Ashleigh Lester is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Child Life Specialist. She began her education at University of Missouri-Columbia, earning a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies. After graduating she accepted a job as a Child Life Specialist in Dallas at Children’s Medical Center. During that time she served the psychological and developmental needs of children and families affected by trauma and oncologic diagnoses.
During her time at Children’s Ashleigh became inspired to advance her knowledge and skill in order to better serve the mental health needs of others. She moved to Nashville and completed a Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Vanderbilt University. While training at Vanderbilt Ashleigh focused on work with at-risk populations through an organization called The Next Door. She provided individual counseling, group counseling, crisis management and psychoeducation to women coming from incarceration who were struggling with co-occuring mental health disorders, addiction and histories of trauma.
After completing her education at Vanderbilt Ashleigh moved back to Dallas and joined a group private practice called Insights Collaborative Therapy Group. She also continued work at Children’s Medical Center with patients who had experienced trauma as well as with clients at Alley’s House, a not-for-profit organization serving teenaged mothers.
Three years ago Ashleigh decided to leave her group practice to delve into the world of private practice. She currently has an office in Dallas and continues psychotherapy work with adolescents and adults.
